The Third Reich
The Third Reich
Third Reich
The Third-Reich and WWII were of the defining moments of the 20th Century and Berlin stood at the center of it all. Although despised by the Nazis as a symbol of degeneration and as a center of corrupted culture, Berlin was nevertheless the capital of Nazi Germany. Here was Hitler’s New Chancellery, Herman Göring’s Aviation Building, Heinrich Himler’s SS Head Office and Joseph Göbbels’ Propaganda Ministry. It was from Berlin that the genocidal plans of the Nazi regime were masterminded. Berlin was also the stage for Hitler and his architect Albert Speer’s megalomaniac plans to turn the city into the Welthauptstadt (World Capital) Germania. This tour will help you understand how Hitler came to power and how he solidified his control of the country and its population. Hear about the different groups of victims and the various monuments erected to commemorate them. Learn how the confrontations with the Nazi atrocities of the past were addressed in Germany over the years and see how this is reflected in the various memorials. Aside from the atrocities, the tour will also focus on those people who opposed the regime and in most cases paid for this with their lives. We will focus on the area of the former Government Quarter of the Third Reich. See the place where Hitler’s New Chancellery once stood and the Bunker, where he committed suicide on April 30th, 1945. Of course, we shall discuss the last days of the war, the Battle of Berlin, and the conspiracy theories behind Hitler’s death.
